After the final results of Race One were collated, and the fastest laps for each of the top nine riders ranked in order ahead of all the other riders, the second race grid positions were very different from those determined by Superpole Qualifying. Hence Alcoba had started from ninth place in Race One, but was one row behind, in 12th place overall, on the Race Two grid.
In the early part of the 18-lap Race Two, which went to its full scheduled duration on Sunday, Alcoba was running in 12th place, although he moved up the order in the middle of the race. He reached his eventual seventh place finishing position with five laps to go. From then on he had to manage a degree of tyre drop and in doing so secured more strong championship points for seventh place.
In only his first season of WorldSSP racing, Jeremy’s two points scoring finishes from Assen kept his enviable record of having finished every race inside the top ten positions so far intact.
In the championship rankings Jeremy is seventh, with 49 points - only three points away from the rider in fifth.
The next round for the WorldSSP class will be at Cremona, in Italy, between 2-4 May. It will be a home round for Jeremy’s Kawasaki WorldSSP Team.
Jeremy Alcoba, stated: “The race was good at the beginning, even if the start was not good. I managed to be in a positive place. I tried to recover at the beginning and I felt good then. I could manage the pace until half race distance when the others took two tenths of a second in two laps. Then, I could not manage to be there. After that the tyre dropped, which made things more difficult. At the end I was managing the group behind me and trying to see what would happen at the front. I tried to give my best but it was not enough. In these types of tracks we struggle a little bit in the fast corners, so we need to work there. Let’s see how things are in Cremona because I think that layout could be better for us.”
